Not only does the COSMELAN® treatment enable effective removal of pigment spots, but it restores smoothness and radiance to the skin. The Cosmelan treatment programme is tailored to meet the individual needs of the patient and the patient’s skin phototype. The main indication is the elimination of spots with a hormonal background (melasma, chloasma) and those caused by sun damage.

IS THE TREATMENT PAINFUL?

During the first 2 days after the treatment, the skin may be red and sensitive, this is a very normal reaction. You may also observe a feeling of warmth and tightness. To reduce the skin discomfort sensation, you may increase the frequency of moisturiser cream application.

 

 

TREATMENT CONTRAINDICATIONS AND ADVERSE SIDE EFFECTS

Bacterial infections
Viral infections
Hypersensitivity to light
Tendency to develop keloids

The adverse effects are usually foreseeable, moderate and temporary. These usually involve exfoliation of the skin for approximately 7-10 days, redness, tenderness, intensified acne lesions, post-treatment discolourations in case of patients who do not observe the sun protection rules.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS OF THE COSMELAN PROGRAMME?

Pre-treatment consultation:

This is a must to ensure your suitability for the treatment. Your specialist will run you through what to expect and answer any questions you may have. A deposit is required at the time of your consultation to secure your Cosmelan pack if you wish to book in for the treatment. 

Professional Treatment in Salon:

At your first in clinic treatment, a thick mask of Cosmelan 1 will be very neatly applied to the skin and this is to be worn for 8-12 hours, depending on your skin type, sensitivity and specialists recommendation.

At this appointment, you will be given all your Mesoestetics skincare which you are to use over the coming months. You will be advised on how to use them. 

Over the next couple of days you can expect the skin to look very flushed and feel wind burnt. Approximately 2-3 days following your treatment, you can expect the peeling to begin, which can last up to approximately 7 days post treatment.

Follow up Consultation: 

It is advised that you come in for a follow-up appointment within days 7-10 post treatment. At this appointment, your specialist will check that everything is tracking as it should be and can fine-tune your home care routine if required. Your specialist will schedule in your next peel according to your skins progress - it will likely be a further 5 weeks from the time of your follow up appointment. 

Second Professional in-clinic treatment: 

This will be similar to your first in-clinic treatment but not as intense and daunting, as less mask is applied this time and of course you know what to expect.

Follow up Consultation and Complimentary LED Healite Therapy treatment:

Approximately 7-10 days post your second and last Cosmelan treatment, we invite you to come in for another follow up appointment to look at some before and afters and enjoy a LED Healite Therapy treatment with compliments.
